Water Heater InstallationIf you’re ready for a water heater installation, you have an important decision to make. You need to decide what type of water heater you want to put in your home. People in North Carolina typically go with either a conventional storage water heater or a tankless water heater.

Conventional Storage Water Heater

This water heater comes with a storage tank that holds between 30 and 80 gallons of water. Powered by electricity, natural gas, oil, or liquid propane, the heater has an internal temperature gauge to ensure that the water maintains a certain temperature throughout the day and night.

This tank needs to be drained and flushed twice a year. In addition, the pressure relief valve needs to be tested on a regular basis. During your water heater installation, one of our plumbers can go over a maintenance schedule with you.

Tankless Water Heater

While the conventional water heater heats up water all day long, the tankless water heater heats it up on demand. These hot water heaters have a compact design and push out 2 to 5 gallons of hot water a minute. Those who need more hot water often go with multiple tankless water heaters. Much smaller than conventional water heaters, it is easy to add multiple tankless water heaters to the home.

Tankless water heaters need to be flushed once a year. If your home has soft water, you can get away with waiting longer between service calls.
